Taking family vacations has always been one of the favorite pastimes for many families in America. Most of the time, these vacations are taken over school breaks like during the summer, winter holidays and in the spring. Not all places are kid friendly and this can ruin a nice vacation quicker than anything. This article is going to give a couple of suggestions on places that are fun for families to visit in two different states, Florida and Colorado. If you are wanting warm weather, the beach and sun head to Florida that has great places for families including fun Sea gull lighting in some of the hotels. If you want to go skiing during the winter break and stay in a cozy cabin complete with Elk lighting with antlers head to Colorado with the kids.

This article mentions 2 areas of Florida excluding the huge family location of Orlando. The first area is named Longboat Key, Florida and is located near Sarasota, Florida. This is a low key very family oriented place with condos, homes and hotel rooms to rent. If you are a family that loves tennis, stay at the Colony resort that has the biggest tennis facility in the country and is right on the white sand beach. A fun activity to do there with your children is to go to the Mote Aquarium that rescues injured and sick marine animals and nurses them back to health. It is a fun family activity without the crowds and is educational too.

The second beachside town in Florida is Seaside, Florida that is on the panhandle part of Florida in the north on the Gulf of Mexico side. A lot of people from the South and Midwest enjoy this area because they can drive in a short timeframe. Seaside has some condominiums but mostly has quaint beach bungalows to rent. The main form of transportation is the bike and is a great way to spend some time with the family. Seaside has some great shops and restaurants in addition to an outdoor amphitheatre where they have free weekly concerts where families have a picnic while listening to the concert.

For families that love skiing and snowboarding, there is no better location to visit than Colorado. If you have small children or beginner skiers, try the scaled down and not well known mountain of Sol Vista. It is a small, family oriented mountain that is less intimidating and about a third of the cost for lift tickets and lessons. There are great rental properties on this mountain that are considerably less expensive to the larger resorts in the Rockies.

If you travel to Colorado in the summer, a wonderful place to go is Vail or Beavercreek. Rental properties are less expensive during the summer and there are many kid friendly activities at the mountains such as mini golf, horseback riding, alpine slides, and mountain biking. Beavercreek has an outdoor ice skating rink that is open all 12 months as well as a Children’s interactive museum too.
